NextGen MilSpouse is participating in the 2014 Believe in Heroes® blogger campaign and received compensation as part of the program.
Her story gave me a new perspective. A pregnant friend once told me about going to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda Md., for her monthly check-up. She, like many military spouses, was frustrated with the prenatal care options offered by Tricare at this military facility. Until she saw THEM. Somehow on her walk to her appointment, she took a wrong turn and found herself among the physically wounded veterans waiting for rehabilitation therapy. It immediately hit her, a military spouse. Their daily struggles far outweighed her temporary complaints.
These men and women are America’s heroes. They volunteered to serve their country. They selflessly stepped up to protect our freedom. Now our wounded warriors need us to give back to them.
The Believe in Heroes program offers a simple everyday way to support the Wounded Warrior Project: grocery shopping.
By logging in to the Believe in Heroes coupon portal, military spouses and their civilian friends and family members can download more than $25 in coupon savings on their family’s favorite brands. Then when you redeem these coupons at your military commissary or local grocery store, you will save money on your grocery budget. But more importantly, 28 partners will donate to the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. The Believe in Heroes campaign ends on November 11, Veterans Day.
But what difference can a $0.55 coupon make in the lives of an injured veteran?
One coupon alone doesn’t make the difference. But after 5 years and thousands of coupons redeemed through a partnership of grocery stores, brands and shoppers, the Believe in Heroes campaign has generated $16 million for the Wounded Warrior Project. That’s $16 million that directly impacts more than 40,000 men and women through a variety of programs that rehabilitate their minds and bodies.
Here are more ways you can support the Wounded Warriors Project:
