Editor’s Note: The monthly Resource Spotlight is an Q&A that provides information about organizations who serve military spouses and their families. The purpose is to connect military spouses with available resources designed to help them thrive in military life.
Name of your organization: Overseas Yes! which includes our 4 websites at OkinawaHai.com, KoreaYe.com, GermanyJa.com and TurkeyTamam.com.
What’s the history of Overseas Yes!?
Our first website, Okinawa Hai, was started by my friend Meredith Novario in the spring of 2007. I joined her team that fall and took over ownership of the website a few years later. We have added three more websites in the last couple of years and have plans for at least three more in the next years.

How has its purpose evolved through the years?
Initially we were focused on helping military spouses explore off base and enjoy their time overseas. Now we really look at the whole overseas military community–families as well as single service members.
Please describe the mission of Overseas Yes!: The mission of all of the sites in our network is to encourage military folk living overseas to get out and explore their wonderful host countries. Because our Local Managers each bring with them their own perspective and talents, each site has cultivated its own feel and community, but our aim to assist military families adjusting to life in these overseas locations remains true across all our sites.
What services does your organization offer?
Our posts cover a huge variety of topics from things to do, restaurants to try, housing information, preschool and school information, what to pack, how to travel with pets and more. We also offer advertising which is great for those military spouses running their own home-based businesses while overseas.
What population(s) do you serve (spouses, veterans, children)? Anyone living overseas and connected with the U.S. military (although we have many expat readers as well).
How can our readers support Overseas Yes!? We are always looking for more writers for our sites! So if you live in our area, we’d love to have you submit a post to us!
Anything else our readers need to know about Overseas Yes!? We’d love to help turn your worry/panic/excitement about living overseas into excitement and a love for your overseas time. That’s why our tagline is, “Helping you go from Overseas? Yikes! to Overseas? Yes!”
