Our Sweet Retreats Experience in San Antonio, Texas! #SweetRetreats

I can’t believe I can actually say the words “I’ve been on a Reality TV show”, but thanks to the Live Well Network’s fabulous vacation rental home show, Sweet Retreats, hosted by the always amazing Rene Syler, now I can.  First of all, let me start off by saying stop what you’re doing and set your DVR to record our Sweet Retreats San Antonio episode on February 23, 2014 at 7:30pm EST right now.

Okay, now that we got that out of the way…I’m really trusting that you actually set your DVR right now…I can tell you how much fun I had filming this show!  I have to tell you that my husband and I hadn’t traveled together for almost 8 years before we headed out to film this show.  We both love San Antonio, Texas and although we’ve traveled there for business, we’d never really vacationed there before.

Needless to say, we were pretty excited to get our trip started…

I had the good fortune of meeting Rene Syler in the summer of 2012 at the Type A Parent Conference and couldn’t wait to see her in action on Sweet Retreats!  For those of you who don’t know Rene Syler, a.k.a. Good Enough Mother, do yourself a favor and start following this woman on social media.  She’s amazing, empowering, and inspiring (and Rene, if you’re reading this, yes you are and stop blushing).  Oh, and she’s an Air Force Brat, too!

In addition to checking out some of the most amazing vacation rental homes in the San Antonio area, I came away with a totally new appreciation for the entertainment industry, specifically the filming and production team.  They work ridiculously hard…I mean, we filmed for three days straight….7-8 hours a day…for 21 minutes of footage.  I. DIE.

During our stay in San Antonio, we really challenged ourselves to try out some new ways to see the sights and really dig into the local scene like renting…yes renting, bikes.  And I don’t mean bikes at a bike store I mean for real legit bikes-as-public-transportation:

If you’re ever in the San Antonio area, and if you’re an Air Force family, you have a pretty high chance of that happening, check out San Antonio B-Cycle. It’s awesome. The first 30 minutes of use is free!  We rode around the King William Historic District and…well, you’ll just have to watch the episode to see the rest!

You can’t go to San Antonio and not hangout on the Riverwalk.  Not only did we walk it, we took a boat tour…

…grabbed a meal at Mexican Manhattan (thanks to a recommendation from one of our NextGen MilSpouse fans…oh and do eat there…and often. It’s cheap, delicious, and, did I mention delicious?). And Michael even “planked” on the Riverwalk (Don’t judge my man. I love that goofball.)

Michael and I really did have a blast filming Sweet Retreats and at this point we’re both hoping that we didn’t make total fools of ourselves on national television.  Oh, who am I kidding, of course we did!  We’re goofy to to the bone!  So, watch us geek out about San Antonio on Sweet Retreats at 7:30pm EST on Sunday, February 23, 2014.

I’ll be live tweeting starting at around 7pm EST on February 23rd from my personal Twitter account @adlupher using hashtags #SweetRetreatsTV and #LiveWellTV.  I’m pretty sure Rene will pop up in the conversation, so make sure you follow her at @goodenufmother and Like the Sweet Retreats Facebook Page!
