Episode 57: Mic Drop

Army veteran, Air Force spouse and transgender equality advocate Laila Ireland joins us to talk about issues facing transgender service members.

When President Donald Trump tweeted his proposed ban on transgender military service this summer, our community was flabbergasted and confused. This week we turn to advocate Laila Ireland to update us on what we can do as a community to support transgender service members, transgender military spouses and their families.

This Week’s Guest: Laila Ireland, Transgender Military Advocate

Army veteran, Air Force spouse and transgender equality advocate Laila Ireland joins us to talk about issues facing transgender service members today and what we can do as a community to support each other. She and her husband Staff Sergeant Logan Ireland courageously came out as transgender service members by sharing their story in the Emmy®-nominated New York Times short film “Transgender, at War and in Love.” They both will be featured in the forthcoming documentary, “TransMilitary.”

Her 2017 was pretty crazy – from meeting Ellen DeGeneres to walking the red carpet at the VMAs, we can’t wait to see what 2018 holds for her. To follow her journey, follow her on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and TransMilitary so you can see the documentary when it premieres.
